Why does anyone find Sudoku appealing?
Mental Workout: Sudoku is a brain teaser that requires logical thinking, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. For me, it’s a way to solve something that involves one of my favorite things: numbers.
Sense of Accomplishment: Completing a Sudoku puzzle, especially a challenging one, brings a sense of satisfaction and achievement. Okay, so if I get a hint or two (or more), I’m still good.
Stress Reduction: Focusing on the logic and patterns of Sudoku can be a form of mental escape. It allows you to push aside everyday worries and immerse yourself in the puzzle. Besides, it’s a great way to pass the time when you have to wait (doctor’s visit, in line at the supermarket, at an airport).
Multiple Difficulty Levels: Sudoku comes in a variety of difficulty levels, so there’s a challenge for everyone. Beginners can start with easier puzzles and work their way up. I’m still amazed that there are so many strategies for a seemingly simple game.
Accessibility: Sudoku is a simple game to learn, requiring no special equipment or knowledge beyond basic numbers. You can find puzzles in newspapers, magazines, online, or even dedicated Sudoku apps. Personally, I like the specialized apps that color the puzzle, making it even easier to see the patterns that lead to solutions.
So what happens when a Sudoku gets bigger and bigger – as in ridiculously large? This website is all about that and more. Check out our current progress on projects working to solve ridiculously large Sudokus!
